Entry 0065
I haven't dealt with trolls and rage-baiters since Twitter. Today I had to deal with them on Bsky. Among them was a Bsky technical advisor with 61.4K followers. It was in response to the Fedora AI contribution policy, although I wasn't commenting on that policy specifically, but replying to the claim in the OP that was arrogant and ill-founded. It sucks that there are grown-up professional adults who get a kick out of rage-baiting, particularly over AI. I can't fathom how they can just throw up their hands and bow down to the robot overlords, and aren't outraged by the menace of AI.
They also seem to think that because the social media sites and other stuff we use are made with AI-assistance then we must be hypocrites for continuing to use them. It's really not that simple. For one, nobody has consistent meta-principles. So continuing to use Bsky even though it's pro-AI is reasonable when there aren't really any viable substitutes for social media interaction. If there are people who can boycot Bsky with no major social loss, then by all means I support it. But moving into a cabin in some remote wooded area like the Unabomber is not reasonable or feasible for most people who don't like American capitalism and big corporate influence. So we stay and try to push back against the stuff we don't like.
Anyway, I'm trying hard not to let this get to me. I had to take a clonazepam. I'm about to do some mildly cognitively demanding tasks. Then I will have a root beer float and play a video game.
