My cognition and executive functioning have been piss-poor today.

Earlier this morning, I cloned a repo from my GitLab instance to test building of a container image with buildah. I'm looking at the .gitlab-ci.yml that I wrote as a reference for the buildah build command. The command wouldn't run, something about the --target not existing in the Containerfile. I stared at that error message and spaced out for, I don't know, five minutes. I tried running the same command again and expected a different result, but to my disappointment I got the same result. Then I figured I'll let it sit for a while and come back to it later, and maybe I'll have some stroke of new insight or something. Problem status: pending solution. What occurred to me when I came back to it later was not so much a stroke of new insight, but the facepalm-inducing realization that I had cloned the wrong repo and was running the command against the wrong Containerfile.

Later in the afternoon, I drove my dad to pick up his car at the autobody shop, and I was supposed to go and pick up my mom's prescription after I dropped him off. My brain defaulted to autopilot mode as I kind of spaced out, and I drove back home. When my dad got home he asked if I picked up mom's prescription. So that completely slipped my mind, and I had to go back out and pick it up. After I picked it up, I drove to the gas station to buy cigarettes and get gas. I bought cigarettes, and I was half-way home when I realized I had forgotten to get gas. So I had to turn around and get it.

Also in the afternoon, I went to the grocery store to get food. I rang up all my items at the self-checkout and proceeded to pay with my debit card. The card was rejected, and I tried it about four times before I realized I was using the wrong card. I have a PayPal debit card and a PayPal credit card, and they both look the same, except the former says "debit". The credit card I had locked so that it can't be used -- I paid it off and decided I wasn't going to use it for a while. So that's why it wasn't working -- duh -- because I had taken the wrong card out of my wallet.

My brain is just dead-adamant about spacing out and using auto-pilot today.
